Täglich die Aufregung bei Anneke und Guus Jägers. Der Traum ihres Lebens rückt näher. In ein paar Wochen werden sie in See stechen, um auf eigene Faust die Welt zu umsegeln.
Spätestens Anfang März soll ihr eigenes Boot fertig sein. „Ein paar Wochen wollen wir uns dann an Bord einleben, auch um mit der Technik klar zukommen. Wir müssen das Schiff und die Geräte beherrschen lernen“, erklärt Guus Jägers. Gerade ist er mit seiner Frau aus dem niederländischen Nijkerk zurück.

Dort am Ijsselmeer steht ihr Schiff in der Werft. Es ist ein 18 Tonnen schweres, 4,05 Meter breites und zwölf Meter langes Stahlsegelschiff mit Hubkiel, beziehungsweise verstellbaren Schwert, von 2,50 bis 1,45 Meter. „Ein holländischer Schiffsbauer hat es entworfen. Es ist ein so genannter Zuidkaper“, erklärt Guus Jägers. Gegen eine Lizenz-Gebühr dürfe es jeder Schiffsbauer nachbauen. In dem Nachbau, den Jägers in Auftrag gegeben haben, sind zudem viele Extras inbegriffen.
„Es wird fantastisch“, schwärmt der 66-Jährige. Die Reling sei ein bisschen höher als üblich. An Bord sind Tanks für 400 Liter Frischwasser, 200 Liter Schmutzwasser und 1200 Liter Diesel eingebaut. Zudem werde ein Gerät installiert, das Meerwasser in Trinkwasser umwandeln kann.

„Der Innenausbau hat begonnen“, berichtet Anneke Jägers. Er gehe gut voran. Unter Deck wird eine Küche mit Tiefkühltruhe, Gasofen und Mikrowelle, ein Wohnraum mit gemütlicher Sesselecke, ein Bad, ein separates WC und ein Schlafzimmer gebaut. „Neben der Küche ist sogar noch Platz für eine Waschmaschine und einen Wäschetrockner“, berichtet sie.
Kürzlich haben sie die Polster und Matratzen ausgesucht. „Unser Bett kommt vorn in den Bug in die Eignerkabine“, berichtet das Paar. Platz haben sie auch noch für eine Gästekajüte im Heck ihres bald „schwimmenden Heims“, dessen Preis durchaus mit dem eines Einfamilienhauses vergleichbar ist.
Eine Besonderheit ist der Aufbau aus Eichenholz über Deck mit Innensteuerstand für schlechtes Wetter und einem kleinen Wohnraum mit Kartentisch und Navigation. Bei Flauten können die Seefahrer den 114 Pferdestärken starken Dieselmotor anwerfen. Ein Bugstrahl-Ruder verbessert die Manövrierfähigkeiten.

Richtig luxuriös ist die absenkbare Badeplatte. „Sie ermöglicht uns, direkt von Bord aus im Meer schwimmen zu gehen.“ Per Knopfdruck können auch das Vor- und Großsegel bedient werden. „Wir werden ja nicht jünger“, sagt Guus Jägers lachend.
Noch müssen sich seine Frau und er in Geduld üben. Jetzt kommt ihr Schiff erst einmal nach Brouwershaven in die Provinz Zeeland. „Dort wird der 16 Meter hohe Mast für das Segel gesetzt und die Aufbauten werden fertig gestellt“, erklärt Guus Jägers. Danach müsse ihr neues Schiff nur noch getauft werden. So wie das ganze Projekt ist auch sein Name gut durchdacht: „Gusanne, soll es heißen, zusammengesetzt aus unseren beiden Vornamen“, erklärt Anneke Jägers.

Vom Ijsselmeer geht es in diesem Jahr zunächst durch die Nord- und Ostsee in die irische See. „Den kommenden Winter werden wir dann noch einmal am Ijsselmeer verbringen“, schildert Anneke Jägers die Reisepläne. Die Kanaren stünden im nächsten Jahr auf dem Plan. „Um unser Spanisch aufzubessern wollen wir dort ein halbes Jahr bleiben.“ Danach gehe es nach Südamerika.
Der Plan, die Welt zu umsegeln. kommt bei den Eheleuten keineswegs spontan. Bereits seit 15 Jahren haben sie sich gedanklich mit ihrem großen Abenteuer auseinander gesetzt. Beide haben vor Jahren im Segelclub Ville auf und am Liblarer See den Segelschein für Binnengewässer erworben.
Zwei Jahre besuchte Guus Jägers später die englische Segelschule „The Royal Yachting Association“. Mehrmals im Jahr segelten die Eheleute in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten auf einem eigenen Boot auf dem Ijsselmeer. „Dort haben wir sehr viel geübt“, sagt Anneke Jägers.

Beide sind in Holland, in Eygelshoven, aufgewachsen. Dort haben sie sich kennen gelernt und vor 42 Jahren auch geheiratet. Gemeinsam kamen sie nach Köln. In den 70er Jahren turnte Guus Jägers in der holländischen Nationalmannschaft. An der Kölner Sporthochschule wollte er ergänzend studieren.
Bald turnte er dort in der Hochschulmannschaft, mit der er sogar in Berlin deutscher Meister wurde. Später wurde er Trainer der deutschen Jugend-Kunstturner-Nationalmannschaft, bevor er in Hürth sein eigenes Sportgeschäft eröffnete. Aber auch das ist jetzt verkauft, ebenso ihr kleines Segelschiff und ihr Eigenheim.
Täglich sind sie jetzt in ihrer Wohnung in Erftstadt mit ihrer Reise beschäftigt. Kurse in Wetterkunde und Erste-Hilfe-Lehrgänge haben sie schon besucht. Zurzeit sind die dabei, das Long Range Certificate (Funkbetriebszeugnis) für die Hochsee zu absolvieren. „Das hat den Vorteil, dass wir auch über Satellit und Kurzwellen kommunizieren dürfen“, erklärt Guus Jägers. Um unabhängig zu sein, kommt auch eine Hochseeangel an Bord. „Guus muss aber die Fische fangen“, betont Anneke Jägers. Sie war zuletzt geschäftsführender Vorstand des Bauvereins Erftstadt. So wie ihr Mann ist auch sie jetzt im Ruhestand.
Ein Zeitlimit für ihre Reise haben sie sich nicht gesetzt. Mit den beiden E-Bikes an Bord wollen sie die Länder erkunden, an deren Küsten sie vor Anker gehen. „Wir haben Leute kennen gelernt, die 18 Jahre unterwegs waren“, berichtet Anneke Jägers. Vorausgesetzt sie bleiben gesund, könnten sie sich gut vorstellen, ebenfalls ein Jahrzehnt und länger auf den Meeren zu Hause zu sein.

Auch wir haben ähnliche Pläne und haben eure Yacht mit den Davits bewundert. Wir machten Urlaub an der Costa Calma und haben von dem unfertigen Yachthafen in Morro Jable berichtet. Hatten vor zwei Tagen auch einen Aussetzer mit dem B&G Radar. Plotter konnte den Radar nicht mehr finden. Es gab einige unklare Fehlermeldungen, aber es blieb bei „Radar not found“ oder „Radar overlay invalid“. Im NMEA war aber alles ok. Merkwürdig! Das hat uns an euer Problem erinnert.
Der Fehler war ein „loser“ Stecker an der Radarbox zwischen Plotter und Radar. Das Kabel mit dem gelben Bajonett-Verschluss war zwar nicht richtig lose, aber schon die erste Berührung zauberte uns den Radar wieder auf den Plotter. Also Stecker raus und wieder rein. Seitdem ist alles wieder ok.
Warum der Stecker tief unten, vollkommen geschützt und versteckt in den Innereien nun diese Macke hatte, wissen wir nicht. Aber es geht wieder. Versuch es doch auch mal. Die Diagnose und die Fehlermeldungen haben überhaupt nichts derartiges vermuten lassen.

Wir haben bei Aart und Adrian vor 14 Tagen unser Traumschiff ,eine Noordkaper 48 ,bestellt. Beim stöbern der bereits gebauten Schiffe sind wir auf Euere tollen Seite gelandet .
Es wäre schön, wenn wir für den Bau und Ausstattung von eueren Erfahrungen profitieren könnten.

Ihr habt ja schon eine Menge Seemeilen im Kielwaser mit Eurem tollen Schiff, herzlichen Glückwunsch!
Darf ich Euch ansprechen wegen einiger Fragen zum Schiff?
Wir wollen uns eine Wanderer 36 oder 40 (Werft NAZ in NL) in GfK zulegen. Gleiches Konzept und nur etwas kleiner, aber wegen des Preises, des Gewichts und der Pflegeeigenschaften in GfK.
Nun meine Fragen:
Seit ich denken kann, segle ich und habe schon alles an Konstruktionen und Bauformen erlebt, was so gängig ist. Z.Zt. fahren wir eine Amel SM aus 1990, die wir 2010-12 aufwändigst restauriert und individualisiert haben. Jetzt, mit 62 möchte ich ein händigeres und einhandtaugliches Schiff, das eher auf europäische Gewässer zugeschnitten ist, so sind wir auf die Schiffe von Martin Bedebreke gestoßen.
Womit ich null Erfahrung habe, sind flachgehende Schwertyachten. Wenn das Baumaterial keinen signifikanten Unterschied macht, also das höhere Gewicht des Stahlrumpfes keinen Einfluss auf die Seetüchtigkeit hat, dann müssten beide Schiffe vergleichbar sein. Wie verhält es sich mit der Seetüchtigkeit bei rauem Wetter? Stampft und rollt ein solches Schiff mehr oder weniger bei entsprechend kritischen Verhältnissen (Raumgänge bei schwerem Wetter, Seegang) als eine Yacht mit Flossenkiel? Fahrt Ihr das Schwert „oben“ in solchem Wetter, oder wird es auch raumschots zur Stabilität und zur Rolldämpfung benötigt?
Meine zweite Frage betrifft den Deckssalon: wie hat es sich in der Hitze der Sommermonate und in niedrigeren Breiten bewährt? Wird es sehr heiß innen (große Fenster, kaum Querbelüftung)? Oder im Gegenteil (Schatten, trockener Platz im Drehpunkt der Yacht)? Lässt sich das Schiff von innen steuern und überwachen (langweilige Ruderwachen bei Regen in Kanälen und Flüssen, oder nachts auf Überfahrten)?
Dies sind meine letzten Kriterien, im September wollen wir uns die erste 36er mit erhöhtem Deckshaus ansehen und die 40er mal 2 Tage chartern. Dann entscheiden wir uns. Deshalb wäre ich sehr froh, mit Euch im Gespräch zu bleiben. Herzlichen Dank im Voraus,

We are in the USA and hoping to live on a Bekebrede design for a few years, cruising in Northern Canada and Alaska.

we recieved your e-mail and we would like to give you an answer, maby it will be helpfull for your plans.
You will have read and seen on our blog, that we built a new Noord- or Zuidkaper. The only difference is the stirn of the boat. A Noordkaper has a smooth tail and a Zuidkaper has a round stirn. Our GusAnne is something between those both, because we wanted to have a bathing platform. This is highly recommended!
The shipyard „Flevojachtbouw BV“ was recommended to us and we must say, that they made a very good job in the steelconstruction.
They build the Noord- or Zuidkaper after a license of the engeneer and architekt Mr. Martin Bedebreke.
When we would have the chance to build once again, we would take an construction support from a boatspecialist, who will have a critical eye on the construction process. In the first sailingperiod (June untill November 2017 in the Northsea) we had different problems. We will bring a documentation whith pictures with the technical problems etc. on our blog.
